How To Make Tea
I remember reading this essay about tea by George Orwell. Now I’m no Orwell, but I do have an opinion about tea. This is it:
- Use a teapot.
- Use good loose leaf tea. This is stuff that when brewed actually looks like whole leaves.
- Realise you don’t have any loose tea and use a teabag instead.
- The pot should be warmed before brewing because anything to keep the tea hot is a good thing.
- Add boiling water and brew for 3 minutes or more, not less. Strong is good.
- Milk first makes life easier.
- Pour the tea with a sense of ceremony.
- Only add sugar if your tea is particularly bitter.
- Sit down.
